Amtrak offers passenger rail service to 500+ destinations nationwide. Kansas City area passenger stations include Kansas City Union Station, Independence and Lee's Summit. Only the Kansas City Union Station office can help coordinate a trip and sell tickets.

Come to the metro by bus! Greyhound's network connects Kansas City to more than 3,800 destinations.

  1. Get the hook-up … find information on utilities, schools, codes and more on the city's My Home page. Let us know you’re here--contact City Hall at 913.322.5500 to receive a new resident welcome packet.
  2. Stay in-the-know … sign up for e-Merriam updates, connect on Nextdoor or follow the city socially!
  3. Attend a city council meeting to meet your council representative, learn about what’s happening in Merriam, or, to see how the governance structure works. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
  4. Take a class, meet friends for Bingo, or join the Merriam Community Center!
  5. Get involved by volunteering! It’s the best way to meet new people and engage with your community. From local events to boards and commissions, if you’ve got the passion, we’ve got the resources to connect you.
