Opens June 1 to Charter Members and Swim Team
The Merriam Community Center (MCC) officially opens June 8. Our new 66,000-square-foot community center features an indoor pool with slides, lazy river, lap lanes, and a warm water therapy pool; outdoor pool with lap lanes, diving boards, and zip line; industry-leading fitness equipment; walking/jogging track; full-size gym with options for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball; and space to gather and host events
Charter members will get a sneak peek and can work out during limited daily hours starting June 1. They’ll also get exclusive use of the facility June 6-7. Can’t wait to get poolside? The City is currently working on an agreement with Roeland Park and Mission outdoor pools to give all Merriam residents and MCC Charter Pass and Summer Pass holders free access to a pool Memorial Day through June 7.
The Irene B. French Community Center (IBFCC) will close May 15 at 5 p.m. to the general public. Say goodbye when the City hosts a flag lowering ceremony at the IBFCC on May 31 at 7 p.m. and a flag raising ceremony at the MCC on June 1 at 9 a.m.
