The Merriam Visitors Bureau brought home another marketing award for the Merriam Visitors Guide from the annual tourism conference last week in Mulvane, Kansas. The three-day conference provides an opportunity for tourism professionals across the state to learn about the latest trends in tourism through educational seminars, round table discussions and networking.
Hosted by the Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK), the conference recognizes outstanding marketing efforts in tourism across the state at the banquet hosted on Wednesday evening. Merriam was awarded 1st place for the medium budget in-house visitor guide category. This is the second year in a row that Merriam has received this accolade.
"We're really proud of the Merriam Visitors Guide. We put countless hours into this publication each and every year so that our visitors receive the most helpful information while visiting Merriam. It's nice to be recognized for our efforts, and the judges' feedback lets us know that we're on the right track with content and design," says Karen Crane, Director of the Merriam Visitors Bureau.
Post-conference, TIAK submits the judges' comments to each entrant so they can review feedback and improve efforts. One judge commented on the Merriam guide saying, "Excellent guide; it's great to see the improvements year over year on a seemingly perfect visitors guide. I always love going through the Merriam document!"
