Join the Merriam Parks, Recreation
and Community Center Foundation on Saturday, March 3, 2007 for
an evening of great food and music by "The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra."
This 20-piece orchestra and vocalists are sure to
provide you with a memorable evening. You'll hear all the hits
reminiscent of the great stage bands such as Tommy Dorsey, Glenn
Miller, Harry James, and Benny Goodman. Dance to favorites such as
"In The Mood," "Moonlight Serenade," "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
from Company B," or just sit back and enjoy the music.
Reserved seat tickets go on sale Thursday, February 1 at the
Irene B. French Community Center, 5701 Merriam Drive or call (913)

Tourism Initiative (KTI) Launch |

The Kansas Tourism Initiative (KTI)
announced on Monday, January 22, 2007 the launch of the
organization's website, www.TheKTI.net. The website is designed to
serve as an informational resource tool for members of the
Kansas tourism industry, in addition to providing key updates
on the progress and growth of this new industry initiative.
Created and operating under the direction of the Tourism Industry
Association of Kansas (TIAK), the Kansas Tourism Initiative will
serve as the driving force behind developing and promoting the
tourism industry in Kansas on all levels.

Creek Festival |
|
Spring is just around the corner and so is
the annual Turkey Creek Festival to be held Saturday, May 19 at
Antioch Park.
This family-fun festival includes activities such as a 5K
run/walk, pancake breakfast, parade, arts and crafts vendors, food,
music and entertaiment, children's petting zoo and activities, plus
much more!
The parade committee has already begun preparations to coordinate
the festival's parade route. Citizens, elected officials,
businesses, military and school groups, performers and non-profit
groups are invited to participate in the parade.
Parade applications can be requested from the Merriam Visitors
Bureau at 913-403-8999 and will also be available online
